The Wig Repair Shop ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Alberta provincial privacy law.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you:
- Book a service through our website
- Send an inquiry through our contact form or by email
- Correspond with us by email or on social media
This information may include your full name, email address, mailing address (for courier services), and service preferences or notes about your wig. When you pay online, payment details are processed directly by Stripe and are never stored on our systems.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Process and fulfill your service bookings
- Communicate about your order, turnaround timeline, and drop-off or courier arrangements
- Respond to your questions and requests
- Improve our services and website experience
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
Email list: when you sign up for wig care tips through the exit offer, we store your email address, the fact that you consented to email marketing, and the time of your signup with our website provider (Cloudflare). We use your address only to send the wig care tips and first-order offer you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing info@thewigrepairshop.ca, and we will remove you from the list promptly.
3. Disclosure to Third Parties
We share your information only as necessary to deliver our services:
- Stripe Inc. - payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs data collected at checkout.
- City Wide Courier - when you select Calgary courier service to and from you, your name and address are shared for fulfilment.
- Canada Post / third-party carriers - for clients who choose courier service to and from the client.
- Website and email hosting - trusted providers that store our pages, bookings, and correspondence under confidentiality obligations.
4. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics
We do not set advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share your browsing activity. The site loads no third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
When you first visit, a slim banner explains how we use browser storage and asks for your choice. Your choice is stored in your browser (local storage, key twrs-consent-v1) and applies until you clear it.
- Essential storage (always active): your cart contents (twrs-cart-v1) so your order survives a page reload, a once-per-session popup marker (session storage) so we never repeat the exit offer, and the consent choice itself.
- Non-essential storage (only after "Accept all"): remembering that you already joined the email list, so the exit popup shows your first-order code instead of re-offering the form. With "Essential only" chosen, nothing of this kind is stored in your browser.
- Email marketing: signups are sent only when you enter your address and submit the form yourself, with the consent statement shown next to it.
This information stays on your device while you browse, is not used to track you across other websites, and is cleared when you clear your browser data.
Our typefaces are hosted with the website; loading a page does not request fonts from Google's content delivery network.
You can block or delete cookies and site data through your browser settings.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Order-related records are kept for a minimum of seven (7) years to satisfy tax and accounting requirements under Canadian law.
6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Withdraw consent to certain uses of your information (subject to legal and contractual restrictions)
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@thewigrepairshop.ca.
7. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, or loss. Payment transactions are encrypted via SSL/TLS and processed securely through Stripe. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Links to Other Websites
Our website may contain links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us: The Wig Repair Shop, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, info@thewigrepairshop.ca.
